Where the high-paying cushy jobs actually are
The four reliable categories where cushy hits $25+/hour:
- Healthcare admin ($24–$38/hr): medical coding (CPC certification helps), prior authorization, utilization review, case management. Steady, predictable, employer-paid benefits.
- Bookkeeping ($22–$45/hr): QuickBooks-certified roles at small-business clients or specialized firms. Async, deadline-driven, but not chaotic.
- Specialty customer service ($22–$32/hr): insurance claims, banking customer service, healthcare patient services. Pays a premium for licensed/credentialed work.
- Experienced VA / executive assistant ($25–$40/hr): Belay, Time Etc, and direct-hire executive assistant roles for solo founders and exec teams.
What we exclude from this page on purpose: software engineering, product management, sales (quotas are not cushy), agency-side marketing (irregular hours), legal associate work (not predictable), and clinical nursing (not cushy even if remote).
