Why we built this
Most "remote jobs" boards are built for tech workers with senior-level salaries. The cushy segment — the steady, low-stress, $15–25/hour work-from-home roles that fit parents returning to work, retirees, side-income earners, and people who can't commute — has been left underserved by everyone except the scammers.
About 60% of "data entry from home" listings on the open internet are fake. Customer-service scam listings come in at around 1 in 5. Even on reputable boards, fraudulent postings slip through. The people most motivated to find cushy WFH work are also the people most often targeted by these scams. We built Cushy Jobs to fix that.
What "cushy" actually means
A cushy job, by our definition, is one that:
- Pays a clearly stated wage — no "earn up to $X"
- Has a predictable schedule (set or self-chosen) — no rotating chaos
- Comes from a real, named employer with a verifiable presence
- Doesn't require an upfront payment or kit purchase from you
- Doesn't mark up MLM or commission-only work as a job
- Is genuinely accessible — most of our listings need no degree, and many need no prior experience
How we vet every listing
Every job that appears on Cushy Jobs has passed four independent checks:
- Source filter — we only ingest from named ATS systems (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Workday) and trusted aggregators. Never Craigslist or social-media job posts.
- AI red-flag detection — every listing is read by an AI classifier (OpenAI) against an explicit rubric for MLM patterns, unrealistic earnings, and scam indicators.
- Apply-URL re-verification — every 12 hours, we re-fetch every apply link. If it 404s or redirects somewhere weird, the listing is removed.
- Community reports — every listing has a Report button. Two reports send a listing to manual review; five auto-remove it.
What we're not
- Not a tech remote jobs board — no software engineering or product roles
- Not a high-pressure sales board — no commission-only or quota-driven roles
- Not international — US applicants only
- Not a coaching or course-selling site — jobs only, content secondary
- Not a freelance gig marketplace — we link to Upwork/Fiverr but don't host gigs
Who runs this
Cushy Jobs is independently operated, not VC-backed. The site is built and edited by the Cushy Jobs editorial team — a small group of WFH researchers who've been tracking remote-work fraud since 2020.
Our editorial workflow:
- Sourcing: jobs are pulled from public ATS feeds (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workable, Workday) and trusted aggregators. We never scrape Craigslist, Facebook groups, or social-media job posts.
- Classification: every listing is reviewed by an AI rubric trained on our anti-scam criteria, then spot-checked by a human reviewer.
- Editorial content: category intros, salary research, comparison pages, and the scam-spotting guide are written in-house. Job descriptions themselves are reproduced verbatim from the source employer so applicants see exactly what the employer wrote.
- Corrections: we welcome corrections. Email any factual error to the address below and we'll fix it within 48 hours.
We make money from featured listings paid by employers and (eventually) sponsored category pages — never from charging applicants or selling user data.
