Remote Writing Tutor

**Online Writing Tutor (Independent Contractor)** **Position Overview** We are seeking a skilled and reliable Writing Tutor to provide one\-on\-one online writing instruction to students ranging from upper elementary through high school. Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length and focus on helping students develop stronger writing skills through explicit instruction, modeling, guided practice, and constructive feedback. Tutors work with students to improve organization, sentence structure, paragraph development, composition, revision, and overall written communication. This position is ideal for educators who enjoy breaking complex skills into manageable steps and helping students gain confidence through structured, incremental learning. **Responsibilities** * Provide one\-on\-one online writing tutoring sessions * Teach sentence structure, paragraph organization, outlining, and composition skills * Guide students through the writing process, including brainstorming, drafting, revising, and editing * Model writing techniques and provide clear examples * Support students in developing confidence, organization, and written communication skills * Adapt instruction to meet individual student needs and learning styles * Maintain attendance records and session notes * Communicate professionally regarding student progress when needed * Create a positive, encouraging learning environment that promotes student success **Preferred Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Writing, Communications, or a related field preferred * Experience teaching or tutoring writing * Experience working with elementary, middle school, or high school students * Strong understanding of grammar, sentence structure, paragraph development, and composition * Ability to explain concepts clearly and provide constructive feedback * Experience supporting struggling learners is highly valued * Reliable internet connection and comfort using online teaching platforms * Strong communication, organization, and time\-management skills **Ideal Candidate** The ideal tutor: * Enjoys teaching writing in a clear, structured, and systematic way * Uses modeling and guided practice effectively * Breaks writing tasks into manageable steps * Encourages student independence while providing support * Helps students organize ideas before writing * Provides positive, confidence\-building feedback * Is dependable, professional, and responsive Experience with structured writing programs such as IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing), or similar writing methodologies is a plus. **Compensation** * Independent Contractor (1099\) * $30 per 50\-minute tutoring session **Benefits** * Flexible scheduling * Fully remote * One\-on\-one instruction * Consistent student assignments based on availability * Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic growth If you are passionate about helping students become stronger, more confident writers through structured instruction, we encourage you to apply.
