Medical Transcriptionist

Labcorp is seeking a **Medical Transcriptionist** to join our team in **Shelton, CT.** **Schedule:** Monday\-Friday (1 Saturday a month), 9:00am\-5:30pm **Job Responsibilities** * Transcribe and dictate grossing and microscopic descriptions of surgical pathology cases comprised of moderately difficult medical terminology. * Accurate and timely data entry of dictated and/or handwritten pathology cases into the laboratory information system * Provides complete and accurate resolution to all user inquiries or redirects the inquirer to the appropriate resource(s) in a timely manner * Identifies problems, determines and provides/implements appropriate corrective action/accurate solutions * Researches, troubleshoots, and follows up to ensure all inquiries/problems are resolved in a timely manner * Transcribe medical reports, summaries, office visit notes, and other medical documents from recorded messages from health care providers * Provide online copies of transcribed documents to physicians or other providers for review and signature, making corrections or changes as noted * Work with transcription and dictation equipment that can include speech recognition equipment, word processing, and computer software * Maintain strict adherence to patient confidentiality according to provider standards and government regulations * Review transcription documents for quality assurance and precision to spot and correct any errors that could impact patient care and medical liability * Create templates and enter data into electronic health record (EHR) systems for updated record keeping and archives **Minimum Qualifications** * High School Diploma or equivalent * 3 years or more of medical transcriptionist experience **Preferred Qualifications** * 2 years or more transcriptionist experience in Pathology **Additional Job Standards** * Prior experience with transcriptionist software * Excellent data entry and typing skills * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal * High level of attention to detail * Proficient in Microsoft Office At Labcorp we have a passion for helping people live happy and healthy lives.
